I always remember Pappy's moto, Show me a hero and I'll prove he's a bum

Col. Greg Boyington said it best, Show me a hero, and I'll prove he's a bum. However if there was ever a hero, that could get a job done, or complete a mission objective it was Greg, (Pappy) Boyington. Not only do I continue to honor him as a great American, and a standard to which I aspire, I'd say he is a hero. 
Today being Memorial Day, let us all honor the one combat squadron creator of WWII, of which the modern day variant was based on, that being Col. Greg Boyington, of the VMF214 , now the VMA214 BlackSheep , USMC.
